Scarring

definition

The formation or appearance of a scar or multiple scars on the skin or other bodily tissue after a wound has healed.

Scarring on the face and body can cause great distress, lowering self-esteem and confidence, but it does not have to be permanent. We have a range of treatment options for acne, surgical and other scarrings to help reduce and eliminate them from your skin.

We can help you achieve the smoother and clearer complexion you always wanted.

How we treat scarring

Here at True Skin, we understand the stress of scarring and how it can affect your overall wellbeing. Our qualified and experienced clinicians will guide you on your journey to regain that clear face you always wanted. There are five main types of scar that we are able to treat:

  • Ice-pick scars – these are deep, narrow, pitted scars

  • Rolling scars – broad depressions with a sloping edge

  • Boxcar scars – broad depressions with sharply defined edges

  • Atrophic scars – flat, thin scars or depressed scars

  • Hypertrophic or keloid scars – thick lumpy scars.

Scarring can be targeted through laser, skin peels, dermal fillers and needling. Our clinicians will work with your skin and your preferences to tailor a treatment plan that works best for your scarring and skin type.

We take a holistic approach to help you to maintain the skin you have always wanted. In addition to the clinical treatments, we will also advise you on a post-treatment skincare regime and a skin-friendly diet.

Our treatments

Microneedling

Available in both Dermapen and Intensif RF technology, needling involves the application of multiple sterile needles into the skin’s surface with an automated vibration. This stimulates natural collagen reproduction and also creates fine channels for the increased delivery (up to 80%) of topical nutrients and skin aiding products.

Without very little side effects or downtime, needling is more effective than most microdermabrasion procedures or chemical peels in the treatment of scar reduction as well as skin tightening and rejuvenation.

Steroid/Botox Injection

For those not adverse to needles, steroid injections will help to flatten scar surfaces by reducing inflammation in the area. There is also the ability to inject botox to the scar site which will allow the mucles pulling the scar tissue to relax and loosen their grip on the stretched scar tissue.

Laser Genesis

The Genesis laser is an easy way to restore your skin to a clear and blemish-free surface.

This is perfect for reducing acne (in particular keloid) scars as well as wrinkles, facial veins, and rosacea. It also minimises large pores and improves rough, blotchy and sun-damaged skin. By shutting down darker blood vessels in the scar site, their reddish-purple appearance will fade after a series of Laser Genesis treatments.

FSR (Fractional Skin Resurfacing)

This unique technology combines laser technology and deep application of heat to precisely remove damaged skin in order to promote resurfacing. FSR is a relatively quick treatment with minimal downtime to target collagen fibres deep within the skin while also promoting a smoother skin surface.

Dermal Fillers

Injectable dermal fillers can be used to treat acne scars by injecting a small quantity under the deflated skin to lift the area, therefore, removing the pitted look.

It works by plumping up the acne scar and indentation which in turn evens out the skin surface to reduce the appearance of below surface scars. Injection of dermal fillers gives the most immediate and impactful results of our scar treatments with long lasting effects.

Subcision

Often performed in addition to dermal fillers, subcision can also be used on it’s own with great results. Depending on your scar type, your scar tissue on the skins surface may be pulled down and attached (tethered) to the deeper layers of your skin. Subcision utilises tiny sterile needles inserted under the skins surface to “cut” and separate the scar tissue that is being pulled down by the deeper skin layers.

With the use of local anaesthetic, this treatment is quick and effective with lasting results.

PRP/Factor 4

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) skin treatment is a natural therapy utilising your body’s own blood to promote skin healing. The natural chemicals in PRP generated from your own blood are applied to the face and micro-needled into the skin during a short procedure. Using the healing effects of your body’s own plasma and the essential chemicals in the PRP formula allows accelerated promotion of skin rejuvenation, tightening and smoothing where you want it most.

Factor 4 is also available as an advanced version of PRP. With longer processing time of your blood, the concentration of growth factors is 4 times that present in PRP and therefore provides more fuel for skin rejuvenation and healing.

DEKA

Our newest CO2 skin resurfacing laser for improving skin texture. Unlike the traditional CO2 laser, DEKA is suitable for all skin types and skin tones. This is the ideal treatment for improving the appearace of acne scars, stretch marks, uneven skin tone and rough skin textures. The DEKA laser procedure is short and relatively painless with minimal downtime.
