Pigmentation

definition

The colouring of the skin, hair, mucous membranes, and retina of the eye. Pigmentation is due to the deposition of the pigment melanin, which is produced by specialized cells called melanocytes.

Irregular skin pigmentation conditions such as age spots, moles and melasma freckles may be a major problem for people and can be difficult to treat.

We have solutions to these conditions that will clear unwanted pigmentations and make way for a natural, clear complexion.

How we treat skin pigmentation

During your initial consultation, we will assess your skin type and pigmentation condition in order to recommend a course of treatment, or perhaps a combination of treatments that is best suited for your skin.

Pigmentation is best targeted with a combination of laser and chemical peels in order to renew the skin cells underneath and remove dead skin cells on top.

We take a holistic approach to help you maintain the skin you have always wanted. In addition to the clinical treatments, we will also advise you on a post-treatment skincare regime, lifestyle changes you may be able to make and a skin-friendly diet.

Our treatments

Prescription Medication

Sometimes the best treatment is a multifaceted approach. By utilising our medical connections and training, we may recommend some form of prescription medication to help treat your pigmentation regularly from at home. Some examples might include creams or tablets to help reduce the action of pigmentation forming cells.

Laser Toning

For pigmentation issues on the skin, particularly the face, our Lutronic Q-Switch Laser will assist to reduce visible pigmentation.

Melasma (large light to dark brown patches on the skin; often called pregnancy mask due to hormonal changes and sun exposure) treatment with laser toning is effective, especially in patients with skin type 3 and above (Asian skin especially).

This treatment is also excellent to even out skin tone and reduce pore size, especially around the nose and cheeks.

Chemical Peel

Chemical peels help to lighten and brighten the skin while reducing the appearance of pigmentation and acne. This can help restore a more youthful appearance to the skin as well as preparing your skin for laser therapy. We may recommend use of a Lactic Acid Peel to gently exfoliate your skin while acting rapidly to reduce cells that stimulate melanin (cells involved in skin pigmentation production) activity.

DMK Facial

The DMK Facial uses enzymes to provide the most powerful, effective method for hydrolyzing dead cell material from the skin tissues while also detoxifying the skin of all impurities. This in turn provides lifting and tightening for firmer, youthful and clearer skin.

Tattoo Removal

You may even have skin pigmentation that was at one time voluntary. We are happy to help you remove tattoos that no longer serve their original purpose. With the use of advanced Q Switch laser technology, our experienced laser technicians will target all pigment colours over a series of 6-10 sessions to safely reduce the appearance of your tattoo.

Minor Surgery

For mole removal that is unable to be cryogenically removed, we are able to perform quick surgical sessions to gently remove moles with minimal scarring.

Vitamin Infusion

Also known as IV Therapy, Vitamin Infusion delivers vitamins, minerals, and amino acids directly to the body for maximum absorption and minimal waste. Providing nutrients from within helps to nourish body at a cellular level and improve the function of many biological systems which in turn will show through your skin.

With IV vitamin infusions, we can safely deliver larger doses that would not otherwise be tolerated orally. The most common vitamin infusions in True Skin are vitamin B, vitamin C and glutathione.

Skin Booster

Skin Boosters, also known as hydrating fillers, are micro-injections of hyaluronic acid. These are injected differently to regular dermal fillers by going deeper underneath the skin to hydrate and improve overall skin quality from beneath the surface.

Skin boosters also contain a combination of antioxidants (such as glutathione and vitamin C), amino acids, minerals and vitamins. When injecting into the skin, the hyaluronic acid present in normal dermal fillers alongside these vitamins and minerals can stimulate new collagen and elastin resulting in healthy-looking, glowing and plump skin.
