For clients with pigmentation issues on the skin, particularly the face, our Lutronic Q-Switch Laser at True Skin will assist to reduce visible pigmentation.  Skin is the largest and most exposed organ of the body, is very sensitive to change, damage and environmental problems. Pigmented lesions are usually abnormal concentrations of melanin, people acquire them as they age.

The following are examples of pigmentation: lentigo/lentigenes, freckles, solar lentigos (i.e., sun spots, age spots)

  • Lentigo/Lentigenes: Lentigo simply means one freckle; lentigenes are multiple freckles.

  • Solar Lentigenes: widely known as ‘sun spots,’ ‘age spots’ and ‘liver spots,’ solar lentigenes are freckles caused by sun exposure.

There are various causes of pigmentation, including:

  • Overexposure to the sun

  • Heredity

  • Picking at the skin

  • Hormonal changes

  • Certain medications such as antibiotics, hormone treatments, and anti-seizure drugs

  • Inflammation and skin injuries such as acne vulgaris.

With modern lasers, such as the Lutronic Spectra, it uses the laser energy to reduce visible pigmentation by breaking down melanin molecules naturally, allowing your immune system to remove them.
